"The idea of making a snare drum with a, more than usual, wide timbral range that meets the needs of a variety of playing techniques and tuning, evolved in June 2011 and derived from the specific demands of the research conducted by George Polyhronakos along the lines of his Master’s Thesis (Ionian University) entitled : “The Timbral Range of the Snare Drum in Jazz”.

The GP (George Polyhronakos snare) emerged in consideration of selected specifications belonging to some famous wooden snare drums used in jazz and enough willingness to experiment, fulfilling to every extent the claims for which it was created."
